During my school years our class prepared every end of the course a play for our parents. For me, having the opportunity of being on stage was a great deal.
Based on my own experience, I really think that drama activities in the classroom make teachers learn a lot more about their students as, I have already said, some of the students become a surprise when ‘coming to stage’. Drama exercises involve team work, cooperation and motivation. Three of the issues I believe that are essential in the process of learning. By practicing amusing drama activities they learn about feelings, ways of moving and loads of vocabulary without even realizing that they are learning aside from playing.
My drama experiencetag:internetaula.ning.com,2014-03-27:2016246:Topic:3978812014-03-27T21:49:28.237ZInés Muñozhttps://internetaula.ning.com/profile/InesMunoz

Hi, my name is Inés.

This year I work as a tutor in third level of Primary Education and I teach English in Infant Education.

I joined this course because I wanted to improve my drama resources.

I usually use drama with my students because they love acting and singing. For this reason, they act out songs, dialogues and role plays.

In Infant Education I like to use story dramatizations, once we have finished a unit we represent the story.

I had always been afraid of working with drama until a few years ago when I had a class of Ampliación in Bachillerato. There was no curriculum established and I did not know what to do. They were reading The Picture of Dorian Gray By Wilde, and they were having a lot of trouble with it, so I decided to try to work with it as a play. It was difficult at first but in the end they loved it and helped me in the development of the script.

After that experience the next year I workedwith an adaptation of the Trojan War that I found on the web and they also loved it, so I discovered that drama can indeed be a really useful tool for the students to become independent in the use of the language as well as in overcoming shyness. It also helps with pronunciation and grammar. However, this course has taught me an organised way to approach the creation and use of a script, which I used to do by intuition only.
My experience with drama and story tellingtag:internetaula.ning.com,2014-03-26:2016246:Topic:3979722014-03-26T15:07:22.574ZMargarita Soria Pastorhttps://internetaula.ning.com/profile/MargaritaSoriaPastor

When I make up my mind to work with a group using drama, I consider three options:

- using a written skit or short play the students have to learn

- prepare a set of cards with different roles and a general objective for the activity

- write the beginning of a play and let students finish it, adding characters and situations

My choice is goingn to depend basiccaly on the students I am going to work with; for those with a higher level, you can use any of them, but for younger or less confident studnts, I think the first option is the best.

Whenever I have use dram in the class, I think is really rewarding becuase it means a change in our daily routine and they realize they can communicate in English. We must remeber that English is not only a subject, is a tool they are going to need in thier future.
My daily experience with drama and storytellingtag:internetaula.ning.com,2014-03-19:2016246:Topic:3973392014-03-19T17:44:46.142ZBeatriz Morales Castillohttps://internetaula.ning.com/profile/BeatrizMoralesCastillo

I love dancing, singing and acting. I am an English teacher and I really love my job, but I always think that I was an actress in a past life! Haha! I have a song for every routine, to say hello, goodbye, to clean up the class, to count to 20, to name the colors, animals, etc. and these songs have lots of gestures to help kids to learn! Although I must say that they are not mine, but I have learnt them all along these years as a teacher, and I use them frequently.

I also encourage first graders to act out the little play it is set in every unit of their English books. It is easy and funny and they really love to do it!

And, finally, I have to tell that every year, some teachers and mothers of the school prepare a play for The Book’s Day and I always play a role… I really enjoy it!
My drama experiencetag:internetaula.ning.com,2014-03-18:2016246:Topic:3973302014-03-18T18:12:22.830ZVerónica García Abadillo Urielhttps://internetaula.ning.com/profile/VeronicaGarciaAbadilloUriel

Since I was a kid I've been quite close to drama. My mum is an amateur actress in a Theatre group and sometimes I also had to work with them when there were children roles. To be honest, I was not a very good actress... I'm too shy. But I realized then that what you learn while dramatizing, you'll never forget. That's why I try to use it in my classroom as often as possible; children love it and you can see how they develop their fluency. At my school, we've been doing an English festival…

I've enjoyed the couse a lot and I hope this group helps up keep in touch and learn from others' experience.
