Drama in my class

I think there are many advantages of using drama in the classroom: drama activities, such as roleplays or mimming games, are a welcome break from the usual routine of my English class and  they are motivating and challenging. Besides, learning a language requires a great deal of effort so these activities help my students to make the effort of learning.

Therefore, I use these kind of activities to provide language practice in the various skills: speaking, writing, listening and reading. That´s why, I like to prepare the roleplays and the sketches in groups, they have to listen to each other until they guess what they want to do, then they write the script and performance the story to the rest of the class. As we can see, at the end of the activity they have developed the four skills creating  a meaningful context for language use which is the main objective of learning a language.
