My experience with drama at school

My first experience with drama was at the eoi when I was a student there. We did several sketches that our teacher recorded on video and I found the experience fascinating. We had also been responsible for the dialogues, props and music of the sketches so the level of involvement was very high. I really enjoyed the whole process because there was a lot of collaboration between the students and we all were very proud of ourselves when we saw the final product. Apart from encouraging collaboration, drama is a great tool to develop creativity and learn English of course!

That is why I have decided to do this course and learn new things that I can use in my classes. As a teacher, I have also done some short plays with my students and I think they have enjoyed them a lot. The students first read and rehearse the play in groups and finally they perform the play to the other students. It is specially useful to practise the sudents' memory skills and also improve intonation and pronunciation. If the students have enjoyed the activity, we could record them using a video camera and then watch it and commen on their own performance and spoken language.
